Teaching
grown-ups well.
When adults learn well, lives, workplaces, and communities flourish
I help people change lives by teaching grown-ups well.
Grounded in research and inspired by humanity, my work helps you move beyond delivering information to creating genuine transformation.
What I know to be true is that when adults learn well, they think differently.
They lead differently. They care differently. They build stronger workplaces, healthier organisations and more connected communities.
Teaching grown-ups well is more than education.
When we teach grown-ups well, we help people become who they came hoping they could be.

Dr. Lisa Ellem
Hello, I am Lisa,
I have spent more than two decades teaching in health (nursing), education (primary, vocational education and training, and tertiary), and the community. Prior to this, I was a health care professional working in hospitals and in the community across Australia and parts of the UK.
As an avid learner and teacher, I pursued doctoral research exploring what adult learners need. Through listening to learners' stories, I discovered four interconnected needs that shape meaningful learning:
Change. Self. Community. Joy.
Today, I combine research, neuroscience and practical experience to help educators create learning that is engaging, human and transformational.
The Four Pillars
Adults learn best when they can:
Navigate Change
Understand Self
Belong to Community
Experience Joy
These four needs form the foundation of everything I now teach.

Our Values
Human first
Every learner deserves dignity, respect and the opportunity to grow.
Evidence informed
Research should inform practice, not remain hidden in journals.
Community
Learning happens through relationships, belonging and dialogue
Joy
Curiosity, hope and possibility create lasting learning
Contribution
Teaching adults well strengthens workplaces, communities and society.

Our Vision
A world where every adult learning experience helps people think deeply, grow confidently and contribute meaningfully.
Our Mission
To equip those who teach adults with the knowledge, confidence and practical tools to teach grown ups well.
